Amy Holtz

Hello, I am Amy. Others may call me "The Dog Lady" or "The Dog Whisperer" however, it is important to know I do NOT train like any of the "famous" dog whisperers on the television. I base my training on a balanced mix of theories that I have gained over 20 years of working with and training dogs. I am a life long dog lover, a Mom and a problem solver. Additionally, I Founded Rudy's Rescue, a Labrador Retriever Rescue based in Rochester, New York.
I left corporate America to pursue my dream of saving relationships with dogs and their families, one dog at a time. I work with rescue dogs of all kinds focusing on saving abused, neglected and unwanted dogs. Additionally, I work with aggressive dogs, hunting dogs and behavior issues of all kinds. I am committed to helping save one dog at a time.
If you are having trouble with your dog - you have come to the right place. I am happy to meet new people and new challenges everyday. I enjoy teaching people how to help themselves. I am committed to continuing my education by attending conferences, working with other trainers as well as independent study. I am a proud member of the Association of Pet Dog trainers working with the public in both private and group settings.
I feel it is important to choose a trainer that you believe in and also one that gets along with you and your dog(s). It is my opinion that a trainer is only as good as their toolbox. I am a dog trainer with many years of experience. Yes, I used to train the old fashioned way using force. However, I am now referred to as a "cross-over" trainer or a "balanced" trainer. No matter what you call it, I get results. Sometimes fast and sometimes it takes more time.
WHY TAKE A CHANCE WITH A DOG IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO?
When you choose Hope 4 Your Canine we will take the time to evaluate each dog as an individual. Some dogs are motivated by food rewards, some by praise, some may respond to a clicker or toy. Yet others respond to other numerous other rewards. It is my belief that all dogs are not the same. Therefore, you cannot have only one style of training under your belt. Ask yourself? Am I a book learner or a hands on learner? People are different too. We don't all learn the same way do we?
In other words, if you can get a wonderfully trained and well behaved dog using positive reinforcement along with negative punishment methods, why on earth would you want to use a technique that the dog wouldn't love and create more problems than you started with?

Rebecca Rene

Hi my name is Becky Rene. I was one of those kids that was born with that “horse/dog gene” or “anything with fur” my mother would say! I think I have had almost every animal a little girl could have or rather that my parents would have let me have (believe me I would have had more!). As a young child, life was best when I was on the back of a horse with my best friend Colleen, bareback of course, up the mountains, through fields and swimming in ponds in the beautiful Naples-Cohocton area. We thoroughly enjoyed each other and our horses and dogs were a huge part of that! Those experiences taught me the value of friendship and how our pets and animals can have a vital impact on our own personal growth and also in developing lifelong friendships. I believe that God created animals for us so that we all can learn a great deal about ourselves through our relationships with our pets, teaching us patience, balance, discipline, love and the value of having a purpose in life. As a married, mother of three grown children and three grandchildren I decided to venture out and take my life experiences of training animals and earn my certification through the Animal Behavior College. In 2010 I became a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. I have trained many dogs and taught their owners with a balanced training approach. I understand that each person and pet relationship is unique, but the ultimate goal of bonding and building a better connection is the same. As a core-volunteer at the City of Rochester Verona Street Shelter, I have given hundreds of hours and have personally matched dozens of dogs to their new families. The variety, size and age of the breeds at the shelter have given me invaluable knowledge in temperaments and behaviors giving me insight into varied training techniques. I personally have enjoyed training my own and other dogs in agility, fly-ball, canine good citizenship and therapy certification (my little ‘buddy’ is a certified therapy dog). I am also certified in Animal First Aid and CPR. I would love to help you and your dog ‘do life better together’! |
