Amy Holtz

Amy, one of New York's Dog Whisperers, is one of many Dog Whisperers around the country that has been trained by Mark German, MBA. She is a life long dog lover, spending all of her life (minus three months) with a dog by her side. Amy left corporate America to pursue her dream to save as many dogs as she could.

Amy works with rescue dogs of all kinds focusing on saving abused, neglected and unwanted dogs. She is committed to helping save one dog at a time. Currently, Amy is the President and Founder of Rudy's Rescue, a Labrador Retriever Rescue based in Rochester, New York.

While working with a particularly difficult dog at Rudy's Rescue - we asked for help from Mark German, MBA. Amy was drawn to Mark after seeing him at a Symposium - She saw that his techniques work because they are consistent and they give a dog what he needs. Mark was able to help the rescue with a dog that was labeled as having severe separation anxiety.

The techniques/methods we are referring to are the Four Essentials to a Stable Dog (c). We do know that everyone loves a well trained dog. Amy does suggest obedience training to everyone she comes in contact with. But, only after the dogs behavior is stable. People can have a well trained dog that sits, comes and rolls over but still has behavior issues.

If you are having trouble with your dog - you have come to the right place. Amy is happy to meet new people and challenges everyday. She enjoys teaching people how to help themselves. One dog at a time.

Amy is also a member of the Association of Pet Dog trainers.

Dog Whispering has been a life changing experience for me. I have always grown up around animals and my family had many dogs over the years. I had often dreamed of having a career that involved animals, but that dream never came to fruition, until now. When it came to dogs I seemed to have a natural way with them. I never had any formal dog training, yet I seemed to have an ability to keep my dogs in control and stable. I now realize that my methods were not completely inaccurate and I had some basic principles covered, however, I can relate to dog owners who have issues with their dogs. My female mongrel was leash aggressive and I never figured out how to change the behavior until I became a whisperer.

Whispering piqued my interest when I began speaking with Mark German and learning about his techniques. It all made sense. Before speaking with Mark, I had often found myself in situations with dog owners who desperately needed help. On one particular day I had just left the vets office to pick up medication and was shocked to see the number of people who had developed their own techniques of keeping their dogs in control. One lady was holding her dog's mouth closed in attempt to keep it from barking and another was having a lengthy conversation with her two yellow labs to keep them from pulling her. It was no surprise that their methods did not work. I realized that people need help communicating with their dogs in a way that dogs would understand. This is when I discovered Mark German, America's Dog Whisperer.

I have had so many amazing experiences as a Dog Whisperer. I help people and their dogs every day and this is what I aimed to do-help animals.
